Nothing New Under the Sun, Yet Everything Still Matters
In the age of virtual networking and remote connections, it’s wild how quickly we can bond with someone new in a new way. I went to a group info session and job interview and met a dynamic, dope Black woman (hey girl, hey!). After the interview, we started talking—just the two of us—about our work, our dreams, our frustrations, our faith. The conversation was so rich, we kept it going and FaceTimed for hours later. And somewhere between swapping stories and speaking truth, I was reminded—yet again!—that the old adage, taken skraight from the Bible, always remains:
What started as a standard exchange of pleasantries turned into something deeper. After the group interview, we talked about our work, our dreams, our frustrations, our faith. And somehow, despite just meeting, it felt like we’d known each other forever. That effortless flow, that deep recognition was proof that connection isn’t about time. It’s about alignment.
The Power of Interconnectedness
There’s something beautiful, sacred even, about meeting someone who just gets you. Not because your lives are identical, but because the emotions, the lessons, the resilience—it’s all the same. Different details, same truths. And that’s why these kinds of connections feel both brand new and deeply familiar at the same time. It’s not physical, it’s spiritual!
We talked about our trials and triumphs, the moments that shaped us, the ambitions and legacy pulling us forward. And the more we spoke, the more it became clear: our lives aren’t just individual stories—they’re threads in a much larger, much greater tapestry.
More Than a Coinky Dink aka Coincidence
I don’t believe it’s random when paths cross like this. Whether you call it divine intervention, alignment, or simply it just meant to be, there’s something bigger at play. God moves through these moments. God is in the midst of them. He reminds us that no matter how isolated our experiences may feel, we’re actually alone. There’s someone, someonesss, who have lived the same things we have.
By the time we wrapped up our marathon conversation, I felt nothing but gratitude. Gratitude for the reminder that connection is always possible, even with someone you just met. Gratitude that connection is divine. Gratitude for the reassurance that while there may be nothing new under the sun, the way we show up, share, and receive each other’s stories still matters. Because even if the themes are familiar, the souls behind them are one of a kind. Different details, same truths.
So, the next time you find yourself in a deep, soul-searching conversation with someone you’ve just met and you feel that lil razzle dazzle on the inside, remember that it’s not just about who you are or who they are—it’s about the profound interconnectedness of all beings and the infinite possibilities that can emerge when you allow yourself to go deep with another soul. Because, indeed, there really is nothing new under the sun, and that’s what makes our shared human journey so beautifully profound.
I left this conversation also knowing that my voice matters. My voice is important—not just for the sake of being heard, but because I am audacious in hope. And the hope within me easily becomes the hope beyond me.
I learned that others need the hope I carry. In my short life, I have seen that my faith is exponentially bigger than my fears. That I have hope in my future because of the God who was with me in my past. And people who are experiencing the same challenges I once did but have not yet overcome need to hear my voice.
They need to know that breakthrough is not just possible—it’s probable.
She reminded me that I need to share my life… and maybe, just maybe, start charging more for my time because baaaaby, what I give is so goodt!
