If you ask, you will receive. It’s just that simple.
You are worthy of receiving. You are worthy of receiving. You are worthy of receiving. I, Joval Webbe, MAT, MSN, RN, am worthy of receiving. I have not because some part of me believes that I am not worthy of receiving. But I am. I am absolutely worthy of receiving! And so, if there’s anything that I want someone to know, it is that you are worthy of receiving.
You are worthy of receiving.
“You have not because you ask not.”

But do you believe that it should be given to you? Do you believe that you are worthy of the thing that you’re asking for? Sometimes we ask for things that we don’t believe we’re worthy of. Sometimes we ask for things that we know we’re not worthy of.
But let me be real—there is a difference between being worthy and being deserving. Being deserving is, “I did something to merit the thing that you’re giving me.” I don’t deserve a gold medal for a floor routine at the Olympics, but our girl Simone Biles sure does! Being worthy of something says, “I have breath in my body, and so I am worthy of every good, beautiful, gentle, kind, loving thing this world has to offer.” As a child of the Most High God (hallelu!), unmerited favor makes me worthy of every good, beautiful, kind, gracious, gentle, loving thing that God created in this oh so glorious world for us to enjoy!
Summing it all up, friends, I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized. Do that, and God, who makes everything work together, will work you into his most excellent harmonies.

You, my dear reader– okay, we!– are worthy of receiving every good and beautiful thing that God has for you. But knowing your worth is just the beginning. True receiving requires courage, a bold heart, and a willingness to dive deep into the desires of your soul. In our next post, we’ll journey together into the power of courageous asking and the transformative self-reflection that reveals the depth of your worthiness.
God, grant us the strength to boldly ask for what we need, and the wisdom to see ourselves as You see us—worthy of every blessing. Amen.
Stay with me for parts 2 and 3 as we continue this walk in faith and courage.
