How to Know It’s Time to Move Abroad as a Black Woman

The Audacity List Never Lies

Well me and my God?? We’re packing up, selling 92% of my things, and we’re going to Vietnam!

I haven’t published a post in a few weeks and IDK if I can get you “caught up” per se, but I can surely fill you in. Here goes nothing… Or, everything?!

I had this thought, just a few weeks before taxes were due. What if… What if I had a very specific dollar amount in the bank? I knew the number. I said it aloud. If I had it, would I need to wait to move until I found a job, or could I just move?! I knew the answer when I asked the question.

Tax time came and I wasn’t looking forward to it. I knew last year I was on top of, behind, inside of, and all around my money numbers so my intention was to pay taxes this year instead of letting the very raggedy gov’ment use my monies when I would much rather use it myself!

I searched for my tax documents and found my Audacity List from October or November of last year: “pay no more than $100 in taxes” I wrote. I didn’t know how I expected that to happen since I wanted to paaay taxes.

I finally gathered my documents. Long story actually short, not only did I pay less than $100, but I got a hefty amount of money back! I promptly forgot about that. Not because I wanted to, but because life moves quickly, most especially when doing taxes on an overnight shift and you’re simply thinking about getting home to sleep. Ha!

One Saturday, I’m minding my beautiful Black b’ness walking into a friend’s birthday lunch, checking my account to see if someone sent me a Venmo. And to my great big surprise, the dollar amount that I had said to myself just weeks before? Yeah, it was in my account!

I didn’t even check for the Venmo. Because I knew, in that very moment, I was moving abroad.

That was on April 25th. And since then, I’ve been clear this is what I’m doing.

Let your yes be yes and your no be no, everything else is from the evil one.

Matthew 5:37

My yes is yes. My no is no. And there is no in between.

I’m having fewer discussions—explaining myself less. Living in my yes more.

This isn’t for everyone to understand. This is for me to know.

And. I. KNOW!

My physical environment is confirming what my spirit already knows. My physical world is amplifying what I know in the spiritual world. You know, just in case I missed it or wanted to ignore it?!

If you follow me on the Tikky Tokkies, aka Tik Tok (no? why not?!), then you know my home is actively trying to kick me out! First, a ceiling leak I didn’t even recognize as a leak until contractors showed up to fix it. Then a fire alarm going off at 1:30 in the morning on Mother’s Day — FOR. NO. REASON. I called 911. They said someone pulled it. Baby, ain’t nobody running through my building pulling fire alarms at 1 am. And a raggedy lil fire fighter asked if I pulled it.

You know when you know that you know that the spirit world is speaking to you in the physical world?? That was that moment.

And then there’s my part-time job. Which, can I be real?! It’s been 8 months since I’ve been working more or less part-time. And there have been many a day where I’ve looked around like… How have I been able to sustain myself on a part-time income?!

PART-TIME INCOME, OVERTIME GOD, AMIRITE?!

This job though?! There are some weird things going on there, too! And I wish I could say all the things but as ya’ll may know, I’m a registered nurse at a substance use treatment facility so I can’t say all the things. Just know that the one thing that ain’t neeever happened to me in the 2 years that I’ve been there happened for the first time. Fear not: my clients, staff, and I are all safe and sound!

And then… A week later? That same thing nearly happened again!!!

Recently while dream journaling I learned that the “listening” in this verse,

speak Lord, your servant is listening

1 Samuel 3:10

That listen means I’m… Wait for it… Responding with my feet! That’s the Jovalized version, the Hebrew is shomea — from shama — meaning “listening with attentive readiness.”At its core: to hear God is to obey God, and to obey God is to hear God. It’s not a passive “listen” — it’s hearing with the intent of putting something into action.

And since learning that, that’s been my prayer.

And baby, the actions are acting and I’m moving quicker than I ever have!

Alan Watts said “don’t put your hope in time” and I add, put your hope in action!

And so, I close with this:

A Prayer of Moving After the Vision is Made Clear

God of suddenly. God of the Sun, Moon and Stars. Ancestors. Spirit Guides. Light and Love,

We listen for you. We wait to hear you. We thirst to hear you more than we thirst for water. You, of God, the living water.

Help us move quickly, boldly, and courageously. You call us to be bold and courageous. Help us be bold in our thinking, in our asking, and in our moving.

Help us move with our hands and our feet. Help us think differently. Renew our mind and our hearts so we may, with you, transform our lives.

We, like Angela Davis, are no longer accepting the things we cannot change. We are changing the things we cannot accept.

And so it already is. In spirit and in truth. In the spiritual world and the physical, emotional, financial, too.

As within, so without.
As above, so below.
As on earth as it is in heaven.
Ase. Ameen. Amen.

The Only Planning You Need is Vision Planning and Microaction

Small Steps: Embrace Who You Are Divinely Becoming

You just watched a woman write a vision down, forget about it, and watch God make it plain anyway. That woman is you, too. You are worthy of every bold, audacious, sacred thing you’ve written down — not when you figure it out, not when the timing is perfect, not when everyone understands. Right now. In this very moment.

Ready to write your own vision and watch it come to pass?
