Love Doesn’t Compete — And Neither Should You

How do you “Be still and know that I am God”?

Do you watercolor? Meditate? Go for a walk? Listen to music?

I do those things, yes. And I go to a weekend long silent retreat. It’s one of my favs.

The air is crisp, the fire in the place hot, the foliage beautiful, and the food always delicious.

I write nearly nonstop while I’m there. My last post was straight from my journal. And this one, too:

It’s funny, isn’t it? Every time I start a fire, I compare it to someone else’s. “Hers is bigger than mine. I see what she did that I didn’t. I’ll do that next time. I wonder if she has a fireplace at home. She stuck her whole hand in there!”

It’s exhausting. All the comparing. All the contrasting. All the noticing.

Compare me to love and love alone! Love doesn’t compete or compare, she simply EXISTS.

That is what my heart and soul are longing for. To simply be. Be present. Be creative. Be patient.

A Prayer For Every Woman Who Is Tired of Measuring Herself Against Others

Thank you, love, that we no longer exhaust ourselves with meaningless comparisons, but we are actively choosing to use love as our only mirror. Love, love and more love!

God who is love created us in love, by love, for love, to love, and to be loved. And we thank you that we surrender what isn’t love and pick up in its place what is.

No more harmful comparison. No more unwieldy competing. More loving.

Loving ourselves. Loving our God. Loving our lives.

Thank you love that we design a life reflective of your love. Of your divine abundance.

Less guessing, less striving. More surrendering, more creating, more living, more loving.

And so it is. As above, so below. As within, so without. As on earth as it is in heaven. Ase. Ameen. Amen.

Small Steps: Embrace Who You Are Divinely Be(com)ing

What would it look like to stop competing and simply be? Present. Creative. Patient. Loved. If that’s the life you’re ready to design, I’d love to walk with you.
